Iceland
At the edge of the Arctic Circle lies a country unlike any other.
Iceland is where the Earth is still being made. You feel it everywhere. Under your feet, glaciers are moving. In the distance, volcanoes are breathing. Steam rises from the ground, rivers cut through black lava fields, and waterfalls fall where there should be no water.
It is a small island, but it contains almost everything that makes our planet extraordinary.
Iceland is the land of contrasts. Fire and ice exist side by side. In one day you can walk on a thousand-year-old glacier, stand in front of an erupting geyser, soak in a naturally heated blue lagoon, and walk on a black sand beach.
In winter, the sky comes alive. The Northern Lights dance over snow-covered mountains and quiet fishing villages. In summer, the opposite happens — the sun does not set at all, and the nights are bright and endless.
Nature here is not a backdrop. It is the main attraction. The famous Golden Circle brings you to Thingvellir where two continents drift apart, to Gullfoss — one of the most powerful waterfalls in Europe, and to the geothermal valley of Geysir. The South Coast shows the wild Atlantic, basalt columns, iceberg lagoons and vast ice caps.
And then there is Reykjavik itself. Small, creative, surrounded by ocean and mountains. Full of good design, new Nordic cuisine, cozy cafes and a very relaxed way of life.
It is clean. It is safe. It is quiet in a way that is hard to find today.
Iceland is not far at all. It is a perfect addition to a stay in Helsinki — a completely different landscape, just a short flight away. Ideal for 3 to 5 nights, for couples, for friends, for anyone looking for something truly different.
Between Helsinki and Reykjavik there is a regular daily air service.
The route Helsinki – Reykjavik is operated year-round by Finnair and Icelandair with non-stop flights every day. Flight time is about 3 hours and 40 minutes.
The second carrier, Icelandair, also offers convenient Stopover packages on the way to the United States, allowing travelers to include a stay in Iceland of up to several days en route to North America.
