Train Connections

Eko Class — standard seating for everyday travel. Additional seating options include private compartments for 2 or 4 people on InterCity trains and 1- or 2-person cabins on Pendolino Plus services, subject to availability and booking conditions.

Ekstra Calm — a quiet travel class with spacious seating, sound-absorbing carpeting and a complimentary self-service station offering coffee, tea, hot chocolate and water.

Ekstra Relaxed — a relaxed seating area on the upper deck of InterCity restaurant cars, ideal for small groups and informal travel. It offers individual seats and tables for groups, with coffee, tea, hot chocolate and water included in the ticket price.

Ekstra Plus — the premium travel class available on Pendolino Plus trains, offering spacious seating, personal onboard service, a complimentary refreshment station and the option to pre-order meals served directly to your seat. Pendolino Plus services operate between Helsinki and Turku, and between Helsinki and Oulu.

Restaurant Car — many long-distance trains feature a restaurant car where passengers can enjoy Finnish favourites such as meatballs with mashed potatoes and salmon soup. The menu also includes all-day breakfast options, children’s meals, coffee and freshly baked cinnamon buns. Services and menus may vary by train.

Night Trains — overnight train services offer a comfortable way to travel between southern Finland and Lapland. Private sleeper cabins are available in different configurations, including selected cabins with a private shower and toilet. Car-carrier services are also available on selected routes.

Northern Connections & Sweden — Oulu is an important railway hub connecting Helsinki with northern Finland. Direct train services operate between Oulu and Haparanda in Sweden, with stops in Kemi and Tornio. From Haparanda, passengers can connect with Swedish rail services and continue their journey towards Luleå and other destinations.
